Hey there! I’m Laurie- creator and photographer behind S&L Photography.

I’m a 28 year old family and wedding photographer, wife to my high school sweetheart, mother to an adorable red headed four year old boy, 6 month old baby girl, and fur mama to my 12 year old husky/malamute mix named Dodger and 9 year old tabby cat named Oliver- just doing life in Salisbury, MD. I’m East Coast born and raised, but having spent 6 years in Lawrence, KS (go Jayhawks!), part of my heart will always belong to the Midwest. I bought my first canon dslr in 2012 and haven’t looked back!

I consider myself an intimate, lifestyle photographer and specialize in families and weddings. Light, sun filled, colorful images are my favorite! My camera bag stays pretty simple- a couple of prime lenses are all I need for most sessions. My goal as a photographer is to create a fun and relaxing environment so I can document families just playing and being themselves. My favorite images are always full of emotion, detail, and movement- the way your daughter twirls in her dress, the way you brush her hair back to kiss her forehead, the excitement in your son’s face when he shows you a new rock or stick he found, and the way you smile and hang on every word he says. Capturing intimate, genuine moments between couples and families is what I live for! I do not shy away from harsh light and shadows. I want to beautifully document the moment for what it is; I fully believe that as a photographer my job is first and foremost to be a story teller. If you are looking for “just one good photo,” studio sessions with lots of props, or searching for the cheapest deal, I’m not your girl- and I’m ok with that!

I am naturally detail oriented and hold myself to high standards in all that I do. Every part of my photography process, from choosing equipment, location scouting and session styling, helping clients plan outfits and session timing, to editing and product packaging/presentation, is thoughtfully done with attention to detail and quality. I pride myself on my quick turnaround time for both online galleries and product delivery. I want my clients to have the best, because you deserve it!

If you are interested in having me document your family or wedding, please send an email to laurie@slphotographs.com or use the contact form linked at the top of the page. I can’t wait to meet you, hear your story, and create the most beautiful images together!

  • Shout out to my couples and families for always going along with my prompts, no matter how weird they may sound! I’m pretty sure Cyle thought I was crazy when I suggested putting the veil over his head😂 but he went right along with it anyway! This turned out to be one of my favorite photos of them.🖤 Also, just another PSA that if you are engaged and have your heart set on a certain vendor, NOW is the time to book! I’ve been getting inquiries for a lot of the same winter 2019 and summer 2020 dates, and I always hate having to tell someone I’m already booked. Wedding vendors book FAST this time of year so if you’ve got your date picked, don’t wait to contact us!
  • Happy Valentine’s Day from my littlest Valentine on her very first one!🖤
  • I hope you all had a happy Galentine’s Day!🖤 Maybe it’s just cause I’m ALL about cheesy holiday stuff, but I just LOVE that this caught on and is such a legit thing now (thank you Leslie Knope!). I loved meeting and photographing these ladies last summer while they were in town for a bachelorette party! Girlfriends really are the best.
  • Guess who is almost finished finalizing travel dates for the year??? It’s me, the answer is me😆 I’m so excited because Utah and Kansas I’m coming for ya!
Here’s what months I’ll be where:
April- Massachusetts (Boston)
July- Ireland and Utah
September- Kansas (LFK + KC)
I will have exact dates by the end of the month! If you’re interested at a session in any of those places, send me a message to reserve your spot!🖤
  • Whew😅 Today was the longest and shortest Monday ever. Mondays are usually my “admin” days. I don’t schedule shoots for Mondays, I use them to catch up on emails and messages, phone calls, schedule meetings, plan and prep for my sessions that week- all the fun and not-so-fun behind the scenes work. It’s a nice transition from a usually busy weekend. How do you usually spend your Mondays?
  • Spouses. Partners. Soulmates. Best friends. There’s nothing better than finding your person, the one who gets you, and loves all of you. And in this big wide world with so many people, there’s something pretty special about that. I love documenting love.🖤
  • Sibling love💕 Currently enjoying this amazing weather while it lasts. Anyone else just get a burst of energy and motivation when the temperature warms up?
  • 🎵Just a drop in the ocean, a change in the weather, I was praying that you and me might end up together🖤
I can’t believe it’s been TWO YEARS since this amazing couple’s engagement session. They’ve recently added a sweet baby girl to their family and I can’t wait to meet her and get them in front of my camera again!
  • Me and my baby girl🖤 I honestly always pictured myself as a boy mom- I thought I was one of those people that could have five kids and they’d all be boys. After my son was born we decided we were one and done, no more babies- so I never really put thought into how I would parent a daughter. Then along came Darcy. And she gave me a whole new reason to do what I do. I don’t want to just tell her she can achieve her goals, I want to show her. I want her to see that being a mom is amazing, but that it isn’t your only identity, and that’s ok. I want to show her that if your dream job doesn’t exist, you can build it yourself from scratch. I want to show her that it’s ok to fail and try again, change your mind and start over. I think it’s SO important for our children to see us mothers do what we love and I feel so lucky to be surrounded by many talented, creative, hardworking, passionate women who are following their dreams and doing some pretty amazing things to make this world a better place, all while raising some pretty amazing humans!🖤
  • Me, currently sitting by an open window smiling my face off enjoying a nice breeze. We went from winter to spring FAST and I’m not complaining. Though I also wouldn’t mind more snow... 🤔I’m *basically* as indecisive as the current weather situation when it comes to what season I like best. Anyway, if you saw my last post you know all about my client closet, and this cute green romper from @littlecottonwood is part of it! Size 4t. I’ll be photographing all of my Spring and Summer pieces in the coming weeks and creating a catalog sorts for all of my Spring and Summer families. I’m REALLY excited for this project and can’t wait to share it!
